Tips for tourists Pangkor Island is located on the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia, in the State of Perak. It is the main tourist island of Perak and is being developed into an international standard tourist centre. From Kuala Lumpur can drive along the PLUS Highway to Ipoh and further to Lumut. There are express bus services plying KL-Lumut-KL route regularly every day. From Lumut you will have to board a ferry into Pangkor. From the Pangkor Jetty a pink van taxi will take you to the resort of your choice, either in Pasir Bogak or in Teluk Nipah. You may also fly the Berjaya Air direct from Kuala Lumpur to land at Teluk Dalam Airport.
Eco-Tourism & Agro-Tourism
Pangkor Island is well known for her fishing industry which had been the main activity on the island since centuries ago. Pangkor supply fresh, high quality, marine fish and other catches to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore wet markets. Marine products, frozen or processed, such as salt fish, anchovies and delicious snacks/tidbits made form fish, squids, etc. (here known as satay fish) are being market throughout the country. When you are here, don’t miss to visit one of the food processing factory (traditional) and you may buy items cheaply from them. Another aspect of tourism which is very popular in Pangkor is eco-tourism. Pangkor Island is still rich in nature where flora and fauna are abundance in its maiden rainforests. Hornbills and monkeys inhabited the island in big population. The contour of the island provide challenges to outdoor enthusiasts. The shores are filled with corals and other exotic and unique marine lives.
Resorts ranging from budget chalets to affordable hotel room to luxurious bungalows and apartments are available for rent to give you homely comfort while you are here. Seafood restaurants and food stalls are all around the island.

Souvenir hunters may stumble upon something to bring home from shops around the jetty area, the Pangkor Town or the beach where you stay. Banks with ATMs are available in town, the Post Office, Public Library, mini markets, fish market, farmacy. Internet cafes and wi-fi spots are also available.
